Normal bottle after Haberman? Which is best?

Hi there

my son Josh had his palate repair about 4 weeks ago now - he had a complete bilateral cleft lip and palate at birth.

we have always used the haberman/special needs bottle - but I am so sick of these, always leaking and now that he drinks quicker - the haberman does not let the milk keep coming through as he sucks and we have to constantly interupt him to refill the teat!!!

I was wondering whether any one out there could tell me if there was a bottle/teat that was more successful/easier for a cleft baby to use after their palate repair?

We had the same problems

We had the same problems with the Haberman - unfortunately we couldn't find an alternative. He did eventually move onto a normal bottle but it took months of coaxing to get him there.

We just used a cheap regular

We just used a cheap regular teet. He was slow at first but soon got the hang of it. Once we changed we didn't go back to the habermann and he got a little better and quicker with each feed. We waited a few months after the op to start We are now trying to get him to use a sipper cup and having trouble with that. Good luck and just keep trying...Rachael
